ACUPUNCTURE & DRY NEEDLING

Maywood Physical Therapy & Rehab Center is now offering Acupuncture and Dry Needling

How does Maywood Physical Therapy differ from other facilities?

Acupuncture originated in China and the term is accredited to Janet G. Travell, M.D. (Myofascial Pain and Dysfunction: Trigger Point Manual) It is a form of holistic medicine that uses needles, cupping, and different forms of bodywork.

Dry needling is a comprehensive approach to specific muscle release. Specific dry needling focuses on soft tissue manipulation with a needle without any medication. The technique- thin needles will cause a stimulation to occur in your muscles which will result in a localized twitch response. Upon having a twitch response directly into your trigger point the muscles are able to function in a more relaxed and neutral manner.
