DYNAMIC NEUROMUSCULAR
STABILIZATION (DNS)

Please make an appointment now to have your DNS consult with Dr. Patel

DR. SHALIN B. PATEL IS THE FIRST DOCTOR EXPERIENCED IN DYNAMIC NEUROMUSCULAR STABILIZATION (DNS) HAVING TAKEN COURSE A, B and C IN THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY.

Our goal and approach is to provide patients with the best functional customized treatment plans- with emphasis on personalized attention and commitment to excellence that distinguish MAYWOOD PHYSICAL THERAPY AND REHAB CENTER as one of the premier providers of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation in the Bergen County, New Jersey.

PRINCIPLE

DNS is based on developmental kinesiology. Developmental kinesiology is built on the principle of maturation of joints and muscles to form correct movement patterns. As we develop- starting from babies our body’s joints and muscles develop proper stability and movement patterns we use throughout our whole life.

Thus, if proper maturation and stability is not developed in the years we are growing (developmental dysfunction) we will have to change that and fix it- through DNS medicine.

The human brain works hand in hand with movement patterns. We create a cortical system of locomotion and movement, through correct stability points in our body as we get older- from a baby lying on their back to first walking. During this process the body and brain is responsible to overcome many factors- gravity, posture, weight loading, and correct distribution of forces to attain proper stability to be able to enable correct movement patters.

TREATMENT

DNS therapy will be a combination of different stabilizing, assisted and non-assisted exercises and positions. The exercise will be either a movement or position from early childhood development- the doctor/therapist will ensure that proper support is established through joints to enable the optimal function and movements patterns trying to be achieved.
