Hip and groin pain can be very painful and sharp and achy in nature. Usually, there is inflammation at the joint causing the pain. In chronic conditions the hip joint can even lose complete range of motion and have referral of pain into the legs and into the gluteal region. At MPT&Rehab we believe the hip and groin pain is caused and originated due to a lack of function- causing instability, pain, and discomfort to the region.
There are many different causes of hip and groin pain. It can be due to a functional or structural disorder; for example trauma, improper development, poor walking mechanics, muscle spasms, vertebral misalignment, muscle weakness, core instability and arthritis. Other causes include but are not limited to:
At MPT&Rehab the doctor will begin with a comprehensive functional examination- which will address the onset, cause, duration, severity, vectors, establish the meaningful task and functional tasks that cause the hip and groin pain. At this point the cause of the pain will be determined; however diagnostic ultrasonography or an MRI are also very accurate and preferred in determining the stage and extent of the hip and groin discomfort- if needed will be carried out.
At MPT&Rehab we have extensive experience treating wrist and hand pain. Based on a functional evaluation we create an individual treatment plan.
