Springboard Pilates Therapy Maywood

SPRINGBOARD PILATES Therapy in Maywood,New Jersey

What is a Pilates Springboard?

A springboard consists of a board attached to the wall, complete with the springs from a Pilates Cadillac.

The board is typically 20 inches wide and 6 feet tall and comes with springs of various lengths and tensions, together with handles, foot straps and a roll bar that you can attach to the springs. Along the sides there are 10 pairs of eyebolts where you attach the springs.

The treatment will consist of different exercises and this is where the Pilates Springboard help you gain/regain correct functional restoration that you have lost in the locomotor system.

How can a Pilates Springboard Exercises help me when I need Physical Therapy?

At Maywood Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Center you will be introduced to many different types of therapies and techniques to help you restore correct muscle function and to help improve your overall bio mechanical structure and potential.

This is possible with correct and specific manual and therapeutic exercises and programs.

You will also gain intensive body awareness by developing correct joint and muscle mindfulness by engaging correct proprioception via correct exercises. This in turn will challenge and activate core stability and muscle function and restore correct control of body movements.

Our physical therapy plus Pilates Springboard combination at MPT&Rehab approach will:

  • Eliminate pain at the source
  • Enable the body through proper function and stability to get fit and stronger
  • Increase joint mobility
  • Increase ligament and muscular flexibility
  • Improve health and circulation to tissue and muscles
  • Improve posture
  • Increase body awareness
  • Help restore natural alignments
  • Eliminate poor tendencies that have led to slouching and stiffness
  • Reduce probability of sustaining later injuries
  • Help prevent Injuries
  • Increase ergonomic awareness
  • Shorten recovery time

Key unique features Pilates Springboard Springs vs. Pilates Reformer:

- Independent activation and specification for each limb of your body enabling it to correctly and individually test proper weight bearing and function

- The springs are higher on the Springboard than on a Reformer and are placed behind or in front of the body instead of below it. That affects the pull of the springs

The combination of the added stability of working independently in each limb and the stronger pull of the springs makes the springboard therapy much more specific when pertaining to individualized exercises and limb activation and/or strengthening.

At Maywood Physical Therapy & Rehab Center plans will be setup based on the patient specific diagnosis. After a thorough functional examination conducted by our therapists/doctors they will customize treatment plans that are designed to increase stability, promote increased mobility and eliminate all pain.
